Bulls (99) More Bulls forward this week, as numbers were boosted with a consignment of 20 Continental & Native bred bulls from Stephen & Heather Allardyce, East Town Farm, Tarland – a journey of almost 300 miles. Trade in general was sharper on the week, attaining an overall average of 368ppk. AG Watson & Sons, Nunstainton Grange achieved top price ppk with a Limousin selling for 415ppk & £2892, purchased by Worsley Wholesale Meats. Close behind in second spot was GK KN & GJ Hird, Meadow with a British Blue at 414ppk & £2686. D Richardson & Co Ltd, Bracken House produced the top grossing bull of the day, a Limousin which realised £3490, which was also bought by Worsley Wholesale Meats.
The Allardyce family were top of the tree for the lead grossing native bred bull with an Aberdeen Angus selling for 361ppk & £2815 bought by Worsley Wholesale Butchers. The top price Native Bull ppk was a Hereford, sold by local producer CN Whitaker, Low House Farm, High Etherley selling for 389ppk & £2493 which was also purchased by Worsley Wholesale Butchers. The ever-consistent MA&PD Foster, Smithy House Farm sold the top price ppk & lead grossing Friesian at 341ppk & £2209 which was purchased by Bowland Foods, Preston.

Clean Cattle (146) As with the bulls, there was also an increase in clean cattle numbers. Today’s entry included a lot of weight; however, trade would be similar to last week’s, with heifers averaging 422ppk & Steers 399ppk. Messrs Fettes Ltd, Braes of Enzie, Banffshire sold an outstanding run of 13 stunning heifers, seeing 10 of them selling for over £3000 each and securing an overall average 439ppk & £3128. The cream of the crop was a magnificent Limousin weighing in at 765kg and obtaining a sensational 450ppk & £3442, bought by Worsley Wholesale Meats. GG Stephenson & Son. Trout Hall secured top priced lead grossing steer with a Limousin selling to 420ppk & £3019 purchased by Worsley Wholesale Meats, while Five Houses, Hutton Rudby ran out the winners in a 2-horse race finishing first at 470ppk & £2815, with Husband & Wife team Imi and Robin Hirst a very close second at 469ppk & £2687, both heifers were bought by John Penny & Sons, Rawdon. Five Houses completed the double with the top price steer ppk selling for 441p & £2663, once again purchased by John Penny & Sons, Rawdon.
