With are now just two months away from the dispersal of this wonderful herd. For sale in DfAM on Saturday the 17th May 2025.

Foreword
It is with a mixture of pride and sadness that we present this dispersal sale of the Rachels Pedigree Limousin Herd. This sale marks the end of a remarkable journey that began nearly half a century ago with my father Derek Woolhouse, he was among the pioneering breeders who introduced Limousins to the UK from France in 1976/77. His vision and commitment laid the foundation for what would become a herd renowned for quality, consistency, and performance.
Originally established under the Staveley Wold prefix, the herd was later renamed Rachels in memory of my late mother, Rachel Woolhouse, following her untimely passing in 1982. Her name has since become synonymous with cattle that exemplify our breeding philosophy of efficient, fast-growing, high-health, and good-natured Limousins, with strong EBVs and a reputation for performing exceptionally well in herds across the country.
Over the years, we have remained dedicated to producing cattle that meet the demands of commercial and pedigree breeders alike—animals that are not only structurally sound and easy to manage but also capable of delivering outstanding growth and efficiency. The integrity and reputation of the Rachels Herd have been built on honesty, performance, and an unwavering commitment to the Limousin breed.
The decision to disperse the herd has not been made lightly. However, changes in farm policy, the evolving political climate, and my own physical health have led to this moment. While this chapter may be coming to an end, I take great pride in the legacy that has been established and in the many breeders and farmers who have benefited from Rachels bloodlines over the years.

I have personally spent 35 years immersed in the Limousin community, and it has been a privilege to be part of such a dedicated and forward-thinking group of breeders. The friendships formed and the shared passion for the breed have made this journey truly special.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to my wife, Sam, all my family, Jack, Josh and John through for their unwavering support throughout the years. Their encouragement and patience have been invaluable, and I could not have undertaken this journey without them.

I would also like to thank Scott and all the staff at Darlington Farmers Auction Mart with their understanding and help organising this sale.

As the herd moves on to new homes, I trust that the cattle will continue to thrive and contribute to the ongoing success of the Limousin breed. Thank you to all who have supported us over the years—whether as fellow breeders, buyers, or friends. I sincerely hope that those who acquire stock from this sale will find as much satisfaction and success with them as we have.
