Cast Cows – A lighter show of cast cattle available for a ringside of eager buyers, resulting in trade being noticeably sharper on the week for all types. The overall sale averaged a superb 269ppk & £1793. The top 4 cows – grossing & ppk were all sold by WJ&AS Bowes & Sons, Stainton Hill House – The super quartet of Limousin & Blue Cows sold to a sensational 338ppk & £2923. WM Allison & Son Ltd, Dunhouse Quarry dominated the Native bred cows with 2 Short Horns going under the hammer at 317ppk & £2415 and 290ppk & £2401. A&AD Brass & Son, Ox Close Farm were top in the dairy section with a Fleckvieh selling for 290ppk & £2409. A magnificent British Blue Bull sold by D&M Lowes, Wilson House was the elite amongst the males today – weighing in at just over 900kg he broke the 400ppk mark finally selling at 406ppk & £3674.

Due to the good weather and where we are in the calendar, a reduced show of store cattle forward saw trade just as dear – if not a touch sharper than recent weeks.
Just the one breeder presented for sale – a 6-year-old Blonde x cow with a Saler Calf at foot, courtesy of AW Sanderson, East Holling Carr which sold for £1700. A nice packet of 3-month-old Stirks from P Sobota, Wheatley Hill sold to average £740. There was a handful of bulls forward with the best of these being part of a trio sold by KM Norman, Windy Hill selling to £1990. A mixed show of store cattle saw F Crawford, Park Farm sell Angus steers to £2370 and a run of 18 steers courtesy of KM Norman, Windy Hill selling to an average just short of £2000. M Shepherd, Fulthorpe Farm sold a run of 8 Heifers to £2060 average £1858.
