Darlington Farmers Auction Mart held their late October Breeding Sheep sale on Tuesday 29th October. This sale incorporated a section of MV Accredited sheep.
Leading the female sale was a wonderful pen of 3 Charollais gimmer lambs from CW Marwood & Son, Foulrice, making £235 each. This home also had a pair of Charollais x Beltex lambs selling for £225.
The commercial section was like a bag of haribo sweets, something for everyone with a total clearance. A&B Herworth, Crake Scar Farm, had a wondeful run of 70 mule 2-3 crop ewes which topped at £195 and averaged £190. The Ewe and Shearling trade gave confidence to the Gimmer lamb trade.
A full sale average of £120.75 for Mule Gimmer Lambs truly shows the fact that Darlington Farmers Auction Mart can officially market this breed to its full potential.
