Show Cattle – Our sincere thanks go to our cattle judge Mr Andrew Hobson, representing Hartshead Meats, Ashton under Lyme and to all the vendors who made the show such a tough challenge for him. A wonderful show of 26 cattle were offered in the 2 classes. with both the Champion and Reserve being Limousin bred. An expert eye drew from a truly outstanding entry that would be the envy of any Easter Fatstock Show. The Champion’s sash was awarded to what can only be described as the Supermodel of the bovine world, a truly wonderful Limousin heifer she was incredibly stylish, while absolutely full of meat. She had made the long journey of 334 miles from the very North of Scotland from Messrs Fettes Ltd, Braes of Enzie, Banfshire a hugely rewarding on with the hammer eventually being put down on the 632 kilo Heifer at 420p to the judge, realising a remarkable £2654 Reserve Champion went to Richmond based GK KN & GJ Hird, Meadow View who scored the double, also winning the Bull class, his 603 kilo Heifer sold to Worsley Wholesale Meats for 356ppk & £2146 and his 1st prize Limousin bull selling for the top price on the day 358ppk & £2330, he was also purchased by the judge.
