249 Cast Ewes & Rams sold to £160

Prime Lambs (801) – The lamb market said goodbye to 2021 with another pleasing trade, the sale average of 270 pence per kilo and £117.76 remains very healthy and a remarkable £22 ahead of the same week last year; as always in Darlington, the 2021 sheep fairy-tale had no greedy trolls lying in wait under the bridge. Top of the sale were some familiar names as the Dent family of Northfield Farms topped the pence per kilo at 315 with half a dozen 37kg peaches whilst the Askwith family of Crook led the gross values at a whopping £166 with a single 62kg Beltex which sold to regular supporters Roots Farm Shop, East Rounton, Northallerton.
