Prime Bulls (57) – Trade overall easier, resulting in a sale average of 265ppk. Top of the tree per kilo & lead grossing bull was a superb home bred 790kg Limousin from AC Simpson & Son, McNeil Farm he sold for 318ppk & £2512 to S.S Meats. Just the one native bred bull – a well fleshed Aberdeen Angus from R Hall & Son, Kilton Hall which sold for 265ppk and £1870 to S.S Meats, whilst the best of the Holstein Friesian’s belonged to N White, Barf House selling for 218ppk & £1275 to Hartshead Meats. GW Dobson & Son, Wood Close sold the lead grossing Black & White for £1458 to JA Jewitt Ltd.

Lambs (1976) As the week has transpired, the sheep trade nationally has dipped, a market average of 282ppk was achieved with heavier lambs the most sought after. Top price ppk on the day was 344ppk for a single Texel sold by I Burn & Sons, Grange House Farm to Yorkshire Halal for £148. D&PH Brown, Cordilleras Farm sold the lead grossing lamb for £163 to Bowland Foods.

Cast Ewes & Rams – A similar trade this week with ewes still in demand. Top spot this week goes to an exceptional Beltex ewe from CA&JG Skidmore, reaching £192. Next in line was B&SM Rutherford & Son with two good shaped Charollais ewes at £158. Suffolks topped at £145, with a powerful pen from JR&M Richardson. Mules today were in high demand, reaching a top price of £140, again from B&SM Rutherford & Son. Continental ewes up to £158, with many trading between £140 and £150. Swales and horned sheep today topped at £72.
