Cast Cows – The trade for geld cows continues to rise, even with a very mixed show forward DFAM managed to average a mind blowing 161.50ppk & almost £1100 per head, we really are running out of adjectives to describe the current run of prices available at the No 1 cast cow market in the North East. S Wilde, Spite WinterHouse, Sheffield shared the top honours of the day with local farmer D&M Lowes, Wilson House – both had young Limousin Heifers scale the dizzy heights of 230ppk. The lead grossing heifer was also a Limousin from the Wilde household, Sheffield – just a young cow, she went on to realise £1711.  The pick of the Black & Whites was a trio of Friesians from JT Parkin, Shepherds Lodge which sold to £1322, averaging a very pleasing £1303. Leading the way with cast bulls was AP Hodgson Farm Ltd, Grosmont, Whitby whose Aberdeen Angus sold for 164ppk & £1336.

Customers, please note that with over a dozen active buyers at the ringside many more cast cows & bulls could have been sold.
