Store & Breeding cattle- With the beginning of the Yorkshire show, as expected, the number of cattle through the mart this week was reduced. However, trade remained good, with store heifer and young bull prices increasing and store bullocks slightly decreasing, overall trade has been good considering the quiet week. Steer trade may have been slightly lower on average, but M Gallon from High Crows Farm topped the steers with a 17m old limousin at £1205 whilst also having two other limousins in the top 4 at £1190 and £1135. Closely following with another limousin steer at £1195 was J Davis, Low Trough farm.

Heifer trade as stated above has increased this week, with J R & L Harding of High Farm taking the lead with a 22m old limousin heifer at £1200, right behind was J Davis of Low Trough Farm at £1195 with a blue heifer. Then two extremely close prices of £1170 for A P Taylor, Ox close farm and £1165 to F Bainbridge.

Not as many young bulls today, but definitely worth the trip with them, as bull prices have increased from last week, with the top price of the day from D Dixon of Middle Heads Farm with a Limousin bull at £1410, with another 3 bulls in the top 4 best price bulls of the day aswell. Following on we have J J Sanders, Bavington Hill Head, who’s bulls made a top price of £1200 and with 6 other bulls at good prices too. Next we have J R & M Richardson from Etherley House whos bulls made a top price of £1060 for a 13m old limousin and 2 other bulls in the top prices too.
